Mother Nature has been very generous to Costa Rica's Northern Zone, endowing it with luxuriant rain forest, waterfalls, wild rivers, hot springs, caverns, lakes and spectacular Arenal Volcano. The only thing the region lacks are beaches, but since it lies in the middle of the lowland route between the North Pacific and Atlantic Zones, it is easy to combine exploration of the Northern Zone even by horseback to the pacific coast.

Such natural assets as the country's most active volcano, jungle-lined rivers and a large lake make the Northern Zone an increasingly popular destination. Arenal Volcano is definitely the region's number-one draw, but that fiery mountain is not always an easy landmark to appreciate, since it spends most of the time enveloped in clouds.

Monteverde is steadily growing and horseback riding is still a big part of visitors here in Monteverde. we ride on a private farm or we go to another farm further outside of town.
